PCN round island

Have walked and cycled the various park connector networks (PCN) for several years, so I thought I should try to ride around the island using the PCN.

Started at Ulu Pandan PCN, at the end of Clementi Ave 4, going west along Sungei Ulu Pandan. Cross a connecting bridge to International Business Park and continue along Sungei Pandan.

Need to push the bike over the Toh Guan Flyover in order to continue on the other side of the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE).
No problem going through Bukit Batok housing estate until I reached the junction at Bukit Batok East Ave 2 and Hillview Ave.
Decision 1: Should I take the Bukit Batok East PCN on the left or cross the road to Hillview PCN? I took the latter and went North, which ends at the junction of Hillview Road and Upper Bukit Timah Road.

Due to construction works in Bukit Timah for the Downtown MRT line, I had to push the bike along some stretches parallel to the old railway.
Decision 2: when I reached Junction 10; should I continue with the PCN or take the shortest route? Again I chose the latter and went along Woodlands Road, passing by Yew Tee and Sungei Kadut industrial estates.

Sri Arasakesari Sivan Temple, 25 Sungei Kadut Avenue 729679.
There are very nice stain glasses in the temple depicting the stories of Indian Gods.
These are shoe cabinets for visitors to store their shoes before they enter the temple.
Visitors must be bare-footed.
Right turn at the junction of Woodlands Road and Mandai Road. Several military and police training campuses along the way.

Continue on the Mandai PCN, passing by the Upper Seletar Reservoir. Mandai PCN stops at the junction of Yishun Ave 1 and Lentor Ave.
Lunch stop.
Found in Yio Chu Kang Community Centre, where I rest and read the newspapers after lunch at the market across the road.

It is always tough to start again after lunch.
I went slowly along Ang Mo Kio Ave 6, passing by Ang Mo Kio Town Garden West, and taking Ang Mo Kio PCN into Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park.

Went along Sungei Kallang using the Kallang PCN.
First obstacle appeared in the form of an overhead bridge across Braddell Road. Not willing to carry the bike up and down the stairs to cross the road, I went on a long detour crossing several traffic lights under the Braddell Reservoir Flyover

Obstacle number 2.
Guess NParks thinks that all cyclists are also weight lifters.
This is the only way to cross the Pan-Island Expressway to continue with the Kallang PCN.
This is the other stairway of the overhead bridge.
After this I lost count of the times that I had to carry the bike over bridges in order to get to the other side of the road so as to continue my journey.

Road works along Serangoon Road made it difficult to continue along the Kallang PCN.

Took a wrong turn and stopped here for red bean soup.
Fancifully decorated bike.
Ventured into Jalan Besar while trying to find my way back to Kallang PCN.

Emerged near Lavender MRT and went along Crawford Street into Kallang Riverside Park.
Kallang Basin

Along Marina Promenade.
Went along Raffles Ave, passing Esplanade, underpass to Queen Elizabeth Walk, along Singapore River until Zion Road Food Centre.

The Alexandra PCN followed by Alexandra Canal Linear PCN. Along Commonwealth Ave and Commonwealth Ave West, then join up to Ulu Pandan PCN again.
Dinner, after 12 hours of cycling around the island.
